A new Cutscenes video speaks with Ikumi Nakamura, with the over 17 minute short documentary looking at her life in the game industry. In particular, “Ikumi Nakamura – Remnant Tour” follows her as she explores abandoned buildings and talks about her past experiences and goals for the future. She also explained her decision to quit, and the 2,000 LinkedIn support messages that ensued, and her decision to create her own studio.
Here’s the full “Ikumi Nakamura – Remnant Tour” documentary video. She begins talking about founding her own studio at around the ten minute mark. One of the goals mentioned is to build her own IP. She also talked about diversity goals in her studio. As Siliconera’s Andrew Kiya pointed out, she mentioned that employees’ gender "wouldn’t really matter" and she would like an equal number of male and female employees.
Nakamura also teased another upcoming interview. She noted that it will talk about her time working on Tekken.
Strange rumors in my background was uncovered for the interview.
– On the development team for Tekken.– Graduated from the Tokyo University .
– A brilliant and a qualified researcher. etc.
When I heard this, I thought how good it would be if it were true and stopped denying it🤣
