Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess features some tough battles reminiscent of tower defense games in how you must defend the Maiden Yoshiro. One of the best ways to excel at these battles is to find Tsuba Guards in Kunitsu-Gami and equip the right one for your playstyle.

How the Tsuba Guards Work in Kunitsu-Gami

Tsuba Guards are an essential part of your equipment in this Capcom title. Think of them like an equipment upgrade for the main character Soh. They are essentially guards you can equip on Soh’s sword. You can only have one at a time in the game, but they are extremely useful since they give you a special skill to use in combat.

This Tsuba Guard skill could, for instance, be like the initial one you get, Suzaku’s Flame. This one lets Soh use two consecutive attacks in a row. It isn’t super powerful damage-wise but it depletes the enemy’s resist gauge and can be used quite often.

How to Get More Tsuba Guards and Skills

Since the Tsuba Guards are so powerful in Kunitsu-Gami, you will want to collect as many as you can. There are a few different ways to get these guards. It is possible to get them as rewards for completing certain stages of the game and even as treasure equipment in villages and stages for purging the land, and more.

When you have a Tsuba Guard you want to equip, head to the tent at any stage in the game. Speak with the Maiden Yoshiro here and select the bottom left option. This will bring up a cord with the leftmost option used for Soh’s current Tsuba Guard. You can equip whichever you prefer here and see a preview of what skill it provides.
