The story of From Me to You: Kimi ni Todoke follows social outcast Sawako Kuronuma on her first day of high school. Her similarities to a popular horror character named Sadako intertwined with her timid personality leads others to avoid her. However, Sawako gradually leaves her hardened shell with help from Shota Kazehaya; a boy who treats her like he would anyone else. After being thrusted into new relationships and situations, Sawako must navigate these budding feelings that sprout from within.

Season one of Me To You: Kimi ni Todoke ran from October 6, 2009 – March 30, 2010 consisting of 25 episodes. The first season of this high school romance adapts seven volumes that include 27 chapters of the manga. As the manga was still ongoing at the time, Production I.G, the animation studio, wasn’t able to adapt everything during the original run of the anime.
