How to use FFVII Rebirth Item Transmuter

The Item Transmuter is unlocked at the start of Chapter 2 in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth after Cloud and his group are forced to flee Kalm into the Grasslands. Specifically, you will get the feature from Broden in the Inn right before you enter the underground passage to the Grasslands.

So now that you have the Transmuter, here are the steps on how to use it:

  • Walk around the Grasslands (or any open-area section of the game) and look for raw material on the ground. Pick them up using the triangle button.
  • After collecting enough material, pause your game and then select the “Item Transmuter” menu.
  • Next, choose the item you want to craft and hold down the “X” button” until the “Transmutation Complete” message pops up on your screen.

How to get more Item Transmuter recipes in FFVII Rebirth

Even if you understand how to use the Item Transmuter in FFVII Rebirth, you may be confused about how to get more recipes. After all, it’s easy to miss this in the game’s quick tutorial. However, it’s actually pretty simple once you understand how. To get more Item Transmuter recipes in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, you must increase your Craftsmanship Level by transmuting new items.

Here are the steps you can take to get more Item Transmuter recipes in FFVII Rebirth:

  • Open up the Main Menu and select Item Transmuter.
  • Next, look for the items or accessories you haven’t made yet and craft them.
  • Next to each item is a number representing the amount of Transmuter EXP points you can get for crafting the item. You want to craft items with large XP.
  • Continue to transmute as many items as you can to increase your level.
  • Once your Craftsmanship Level is increased, you will unlock new recipes, which are automatically added to your Item Transmuter list.

Overworld Material

The trickiest part about getting new Item Transmuter recipes in FFVII Rebirth is that you need to have the raw material to be able to craft new items in your crafting menu. The best way to do this is to complete Chadley’s World Intel in each open-world region in the game.

As you explore each region and complete your map, you will naturally find resources on the ground. A helpful feature you should use is the Item Transmuter “To-do-List.” While in the Item Transmuter, hover over an item you aren’t currently able to craft and click the “Square” button to add it to your “To-do” list. You can then access your “To-do list” by pressing “L1” or “R1” on your controller. This will help you keep track of the material you need to look for while exploring the map.

Defeating Enemies

The second way to pick up Material in FFVII Rebirth is to battle enemies in the overworld. After defeating them, they will drop material, which will automatically be added to your inventory. For rare Item Transmuter material, complete Chadley’s World Intel to unlock secret overworld boss battles such as Quetzalcoatl in the Grasslands.
