How to Upgrade Your Farm in Farmagia

When you first start Farmagia, your farm is in desperate need of an upgrade. It’s small and cluttered with items that you can’t move. This will need to change if you’re looking to build up an army of Buddies.

How to Gain Research Points

In order to upgrade your farm in Farmagia, you need Research Points. To gain these, you need to plant some Research Buddies. You’ll find Research Buddy Seeds every time you defeat a monster in Mazes, so you’ll need to go adventuring a little to find them.

The Research Buddies will need to be planted, and there are three varieties to be aware of. Small Research Buddies are in green bags and require a single square of your farm to plant. Medium are found in blue bags and require a 2×2 square. Large varieties are in purple bags and require a 3×3 square.

Regardless of their size, each Research Buddy harvested gains you a single Research Point. These can then be used by going to the Farm Menu and selecting Research Notes.

How to Clear Debris From Your Farm

One of the first upgrades you’ll be able to access from the Research Notes is the ability to clear obstacles from your farm. Once you unlock this, a new ability unlocks on the wheel called Remove. However, this initial upgrade only allows you to remove the rocks from your farm. You’ll still have to leave the logs there for now, and sadly it may be a while before you get to additional upgrades to improve this.

There are two upgrades to the Remove action, and the easiest of the two to access from the first is the one to the left of the Research Notes. You will need a few items from Perfectus and the starting continent of Avrion, which are obtained through defeating monsters and attacking breakable scenery in mazes. These drops are random, so there are no guarantees, but a few Maze runs on the listed continents should get you the materials you need. There are a lot of nodes to get through to get this, however.

The third upgrade is inaccessible to you until you gain access to the continent of Sonrisa, as the upgrade requires two Toxic Spottie Leaves only available from there.

How to Increase the Size of Your Farm

The initial size of the farm you get in Farmagia is quite cramped, with barely space to plant anything, so you’ll want to upgrade this as soon as possible. Fortunately, it’s quite easy to unlock the first upgrade here, as it’s sitting two slots down from the Remove Obstacles ability. While it is gated by story progress, it only takes a couple of missions to unlock the slot.

There are a couple more upgrades to the size, but they’re less urgent than this initial upgrade. It gives you a decent amount of space to work with for early game needs. However, the logs will still get in your way for a little while.

How to Improve Farm Tools

The Tool upgrades are some of the more essential upgrades, as they speed up the process of your actions in the farm. These upgrades allow you to hold down the tool button to create an area of effect you’ll be able to affect at once.

Fortunately, these are also some of the easiest farm upgrades to unlock in Farmagia. They are found all over the Research Notes, including several clustered around the start point. You’ll almost certainly get a few of these cleared after a few trips to the Mazes.

Farmagia is out for PC, Nintendo Switch and PS5.
