How to Unlock Yakuza: Like a Dragon Jobs

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Yakuza: Like a Dragon mixes things up, exchanging more action oriented combat for a more strategic, turn-based RPG approach. And with that new style of gameplay comes new systems. Namely, Yakuza: Like a Dragon has jobs (classes) players can assign to individual characters.

Players can change the jobs assigned to each character at the Hello Work job center. In order to access this feature, you must progress through the story until a certain point. (You’ll know when it happens.) After that, you can talk to Ririka at the front desk to change your job. You will need to go to Hello Work every time you want to change jobs, so keep this in mind when switching. It is highly advised that you take a taxi to change your jobs for important story segments, since taking a level 1 job or a less than ideal team composition into fights can make or break boss encounters.

Not all jobs will be immediately available upon party members joining your roster, so I’ll be breaking down all of the requirements to unlock all jobs for the characters that will be available as party members in Yakuza: Like a Dragon. There are some spoilers below, as even the secret ones will be covered.

Ichiban Yakuza: Like a Dragon Jobs

Unlocking jobs for Ichiban requires you to level up his personality. You will need to complete sub stories, spend time at the Ouranbara Vocational School, or find one-time use Personality increasing items. It is highly suggested that you spend time at the Vocational School, since it is probably the easiest way to level up the six different facets of Ichiban’s personality.

  • Freelancer – Level 1+ (This is Ichiban’s default job, so you will always have access to this job at any time.)
  • Hero – Level 1+ (This job is unlocked through story progression, so simply get through more of the story and Ichiban can realize his dreams and become a hero!)
  • Bodyguard – Level 1+
  • Host – Level 1+, Style Level 3+
  • Breaker – Level 1+
  • Foreman – Level 1+, Charisma Level 3+
  • Musician – Level 15+, Kindness Level 5+
  • Chef – Level 15+, Passion Level 5+
  • Enforcer – Level 20+, Confidence Level 7+
  • Fortuneteller – Level 20+, Intellect Level 7+
  • Devil Rocker – DLC

Unlike Kasuga, in order to unlock more jobs for your party members in Yakuza: Like a Dragon, you will need to increase their level and your Bond with each of them. Increasing your Bond with a party member can be done by bringing them into combat with you, eating with them at restaurants, and by doing just about anything, really. Make sure to immediately trigger their conversation at Survive Bar to unlock their Bond cap once you can, or you’ll end up wasting valuable Bond points. (Which means it’ll take longer to unlock their jobs.)
