Viper is one of two new jobs that are debuting as part of the long-awaited Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail expansion. This new melee physical DPS job features dual-wielding and sweet close combat combos. If this is the new job that is right up your alley, here’s where to unlock Viper in FFXIV Dawntrail.
FFXIV Dawntrail Viper Job unlock requirements, explained
While you might be excited to jump right into Tural or other content in the game as Viper, there are some requirements you must meet first. Before you can even start the intro quest to unlock this melee DPS job, you must meet both of the following requirements:
- Own the Dawntrail expansion
- Must have a level 80 or higher Disciple of War or Magic
That is a pretty high requirement for a job, as the previous max level was 90. That said, if you are pretty current up to at least Shadowbringers, you more than likely have a level 80 or higher. Note that you don’t even have to complete any expansion storyline to unlock Viper; you could still be in Stormblood, for example, but have a level 80 and be able to unlock this new job.
Where do I unlock Viper in FFXIV Dawntrail?
So long as you meet the prerequisites above, you are ready hop into Viper. As for where you should go to unlock Viper in FFXIV Dawntrail, head to the following location:
- Ul’dah – Steps of Nald: X: 9.3, Y: 9.2
There, you want to find and speak with the Worried Weaver NPC. This is a pretty easy and straightforward intro quest with just a bunch of cutscenes and talking. Once you complete the job quest, you will unlock Viper and your first set of gear. This gear is already level 80 so you are able to start practicing this job. I recommend hitting up a training dummy and taking your time learning the ins and outs.
