How to Unlock Thorin’s Card Shop in FFVII Rebirth

In addition to being able to win Queen’s Blood cards in FFVII Rebirth, you can buy them from Thorin’s Card Shop once you unlock access to it. You need to take the “A Rare Card Lost” sidequest in Kalm and go through some Queen’s Blood matches to get inside.

How do I unlock Thorin’s Card Shop in FFVII Rebirth

So you might actually see and pass Thorin’s shop a few times before you get to unlock it. You can go there immediately after leaving Kalm for the first time. However, you can’t start the process of going inside until after you get Piko the Chocobo and learn that odd jobs are available in Chapter 2.

Once you do, head back to Kalm. Remember the bar where you found Barret earlier in the chapter? That’s where Vash the bartender is. He lost his Chocobo & Moogle Queen’s Blood card in a match and tasks you with getting it back. 

The first step in this process to helping him (and helping yourself by gaining the ability to buy some cards) is to defeat him in Queen’s Blood. Face him in a match and win, and he’ll be convinced. As long as you beat the first three players when in Kalm before you had to flee, you should be fine.

After beating Vash, he’ll tell you Virgil is the person he lost the Chocobo & Moogle card to. That person is outside the Kalm clock tower. Of the three matches, I found this was the most challenging one. However, beat him and you’ll learn he no longer has Vash’s Queen’s Blood card. He sold it to Thorin. 

Now’s your moment. Head out of Kalm and go to Thorin’s Card Shop in the FFVII Rebirth grasslands area. If you already visited there before, you can fast travel to it. This time, when you try to visit the home in the screenshot of the FFVII map I highlighted below, the door will unlock and you can get inside.

You’ll need to face Thorin to get Vash’s card back. However, before you do, you can also immediately purchase some Queen’s Blood cards.  

Here are the ones Thorin will have in stock when you first gain access to his shop:

• Card 098: Titan – 500 gil
• Card 108: Fat Chocobo – 500 gil
• QB Booster Pack: Suppressive Strikers (002: Riot Troopers, 006: Toxirat, 016: Devil Rider, and 018: Flan)- 500 gil
• QB Booster Pack: Ruffians (003: Grenadier, 010: Mandragora, 014: Quetzalcoatl, and 015: Zu) – 500 gil

Defeat Thorin and you’ll get the Card 107: Chocobo & Moogle back. Head back to Vash. He’ll then give you the card. You’ll also get 600 EXP, 10 party EXP, and Tifa will like Cloud better.
