Where to get Super Suit in Mario RPG

The Super Suit is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a powerful piece of equipment boosting attack, defense, magic attack, and magic defense by 50 points while upping your speed by 30. In case that wasn’t enough, it also protects Mario from status ailments and elemental attacks. It goes without saying this is one of the most powerful items in the game.

You’d think getting it involves an elaborate questline or perhaps defeating a super boss, right? Well, no, actually. You can actually explain how to unlock the powerful armor piece in one sentence. To unlock the Super Suit in Super Mario RPG, Mario must do 100 Super Jumps in a row for Chow in Monstro Town.

That’s all you have to do, which sounds easy, right? Well, not so much. While the explanation is simple, and so are Super Jumps, relatively speaking, doing 100 in a row is actually very difficult and requires precise button taps.

How to land 100 Super Jumps in Mario RPG

This is almost all execution, so unfortunately, I can only offer a few tips. Make sure you’re not wearing the Jump Shoes item on Mario, and find a Spikey enemy. These enemies won’t die from regular jump attacks so you can chain Super Jumps on them. You can find Spikey in the Mushroom Way level.

You want to jump right when Mario’s feet connect with the enemy. This timing will get harder as the number of consecutive jumps goes up. You can try to use Mario’s shadow as a guide, but the only way to do this is to practice. Unfortunately, this is one challenge that there’s no simple trick around it.

This could take you hours to get right, so don’t get discouraged. This is very much possible and will happen with enough jumps. You just need to find that precise frame a few times in a row to get into that groove. Luckily, the remake gives you a jump counter, so you’ll know exactly how many you’re doing.

Once you have the Super Suit, why not take on some bonus bosses like the Johnny Jones rematch or the toughest fight in the game, Culex?

Super Mario RPG is now available on the Nintendo Switch.
