A short way into Remnant 2, you’ll get to pick your first Archetype, which is the game’s version of classes. But what if you decide you don’t like the class you picked, or just want to see how another one plays? Well, luckily there are ways to get the other starter archetypes pretty easily.
How to get the Remnant 2 starter Archetype classes
You’re initially given the choice of the survivable Challenger class, the ranged, specialized Hunter, the healing-focused Medic, and the Handler who is a flexible support as Remnant 2 starter Archetype options. If you pre-ordered, you will also have the choice of picking the Gunslinger, a more close-ranged damage specialist. With the exception of the Gunslinger, which has its own unlock route, each of these can be obtained later by purchasing certain items from merchants in Ward 13.

If you’re after the Challenger, you want to get the Old Metal Tool from Reginald Malone the consumables vendor. Next to Reggie is Mudtooth, who sells concoctions, as well as the Old Whistle needed for the Handler. The Medic is unlocked via an item bought from Dr. Norah, which is the Medic Pin. The Hunter item is the Rusty Medal bought from Brabas the arms dealer. Each item costs 1,500 Scrap, but you won’t be able to equip it right away.
If you’re after other classes, they’re trickier to get. But I feel the four starters should give you enough to play around with while you search for them.

Once you have the dormant classes’ items for an Archetype in Remnant 2, you’ll then need to take the item to Wallace. He’s the mystic who lives in a shipping container by the water in Ward 13. Wallace can then turn the ordinary item you bought from the vendor into a class item for the modest fee of a further 1,000 scrap and 10 Lumenite crystals. The crystals are a common drop from enemies and chests out in the various worlds of Remnant 2. Now the class is unlocked for you to select, including when creating new characters.
Remnant 2 will launch on July 25, 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. An early access period started on July 21, 2023 for owners of the Ultimate edition.
