How do I unlock the Oblivion Ending in Slay the Princess: The Pristine Cut?

For the oblivion ending, you will want to deny the Shifting Mound vessels so she cannot transform into her final form. This will require you to walk away from the cabin every time you start Chapter Two in your run. You can technically take this action in some Chapter Three’s as well, but we recommend keeping to Chapter Two, as it’s far more straightforward.

To do this, you will want to play through the entirety of Chapter One and then reach Chapter Two. For instance, you can’t do the “The Good Ending” route, as your run will end prematurely before reaching Chapter Two. After successfully reaching Chapter Two, you will want to ignore the narrator and avoid the cabin entirely. When you begin walking down a different path from the cabin, the new route will also mysteriously take you to the cabin, but continue walking away.

  • Turn around and leave
  • Quietly continue down the path away from the cabin
  • Turn around (again) and leave (again)

The world will then start to unwind, and the physical matter around you will then be replaced with a mere empty vacuum. The Shifting Mound will speak to you directly and explain how it wants vessels. There will be dialogue options during this conversation, but it doesn’t particularly matter which one you pick, so select whichever speaks to you most. You will then be sent back all the way to Chapter One, alongside earning the denial achievement.

Here comes the monotonous part: you’ll have to repeat the above another five times. This means you will have to walk away from the cabin in Chapter Two and deny the Shifting Mound six times in total to earn the Oblivion ending. You will know if you are successful, as every time the Shifting Mound sends you back to Chapter One, you will unlock an achievement correlating with the five stages of grief (Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, Acceptance).

On the fifth time, The Shifting Mound will warn you that if you reencounter her in the same manner, you will not be able to leave next time. After this, do it one more time, and when you come into contact with the Shifting Mound, you will want to pick:

  • Consciousness fades away

You and the Shifting Mound will then fade into oblivion and earn the Just as you were nothing achievement.
