How to Unlock Room 1665 Vampire Survivors Stage

The Darkasso update for Vampire Survivors added a Room 1665 stage you’ll need to survive to acquire the new Darkasso Relic and Darkanas, however once unlocking you’ll find it it quite a challenge to complete. Here’s how to get through it.

How do I unlock the Room 1665 challenge stage in Vampire Survivors?

Poncle actually revealed exactly how to access Room 1665 in the Vampire Survivors Darkasso 1.11.1 patch notes on Steam. It’s as simple as entering the code “forbiddenbox” in the Secrets menu. Do that, and it will immediately show up in the list of available stages in the main mode.

However, if you haven’t unlocked the Secrets Menu in Vampire Survivors, it is going to be a while before you can play through Room 1665. To do that, you need to acquire the Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane Relic. You only earn this after getting through another challenge stage called Bone Zone. However, to do that you first need to unlock Hyper Mode for three of the existing stages in the base game.

Actually accessing Hyper Mode for a stage isn’t too difficult if you’ve been playing Vampire Survivors for a while. All you need to do is essentially clear the stage by surviving it for 30 minutes. That means you face its final boss and essentially stick around after that until death comes for you. The four possible stage options for unlocking it are Stage 1: Mad Forest, Stage 2: Inlaid Library, Stage 3: Dairy Plant, Stage 4: Gallo Tower. Since I was going in order back when I started, I had Bone Zone after going through Mad Forest, Inlaid Library, and Dairy Plant.

Secrets will appear in the main menu after you get Forbidden Scrolls of Morbane from Bone Zone, allowing you to enter the code “forbiddenbox” as a “spell.” After entering it, you’ll immediately be taken to the stage as a character.

How does Room 1665 work in Vampire Survivors?

Once you find yourself in Room 1665, you’ll be trapped in a single room. You don’t get to choose an Arcana right away, if you have access to them. The map will show there are Arcana boxes ahead, but you’re locked within and can’t reach them initially. Your goal, as always, is to survive for 30 minutes. At certain intervals, the doors between rooms will open, and the hall will include some towers you can bust up for healing chickens, coins, and other items. Once you unlock two or more rooms, I recommend going back and forth between them to get more space from the growing horde of enemies. You can revive if you fall in the fight, but only once.

Since this is a challenge level that involves surviving hordes in small spaces, I recommend picking up weapons and items that can help with health. When I entered the code to unlock the stage, I had Miang Moonspell from the Legacy of the Moonspell DLC. She starts with the Silver Wind weapon that deals damage and heals. I made sure to grab the Pummarola as soon as I could get one, so I could get that Festive Winds evolution. Pairing that with the Sarabande of Healing Arcana will help a lot!

My other tip is to get a lot of weapons with a wide range or AOE option. The Runetracer and Armor pairing for No Future is fantastic. Picking up a Duplicator, even if you don’t also get a Lightning Ring for Thunder Loop or Summon Night for Echo Night, is a great idea if you get other projectile-based weapons. I would also go with the King Bible and Spellbinder for Holy Vespers or Pentagram and Crown for Gorgeous Moon. All of them will help you deal with all the foes you’ll be facing.

Vampire Survivors is on the Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PC, and mobile devices now. The Darkasso 1.11.1 update went live on August 15, 2024. The PS4 and PS5 versions launch on August 29, 2024.
