The Mage Archetype in Metaphor: ReFantazio is a magic-oriented class that specializes in fire, ice, and lightning spells. Here’s how to obtain Mage, as well as the more advanced Archetypes in its lineage.
Here’s how to unlock the Mage Archetypes in Metaphor: ReFantazio
- Mage: Default Archetype from the story after a scene with Gallica
- Wizard: Reach Rank 20 of Mage; reach Rank 3 with Gallica; 6000 MAG
- Warlock: Reach Rank 20 of Wizard and Rank 10 of Assassin; reach Rank 8 with Gallica; 16,500 MAG
- Elemental Master: Reach Rank 20 of Wizard; reach Rank 8 with Gallica; 16,500 MAG
Gallica is a follower who will level up through the story rather than anything on your part. This means that you will be able to unlock the Elemental Master, at the very least, no matter what. On the flipside, this also means that you’re forced to wait until the story progresses to the next part of Gallica’s follower story in order to get to the more advanced Archetypes.
What is the Mage good for?
Mage is one of those Archetypes that you will want your magic users to go through no matter what. It’s very useful at hitting enemy weaknesses and magic is ridiculously powerful in this game. Mage also learns some really useful passive skills that restore MP every time they defeat an enemy, as well as one that increases the max amount of MP.
While there’s no rule stopping you from letting anyone research any Archetype, some characters are better suited for certain classes than others. In Mage’s case, the Protagonist, Junah, and Eupha in particular will benefit from either learning Mage lineage Archetypes’ moves or staying in the Mage Archetype for some time. Mage learns a lot of powerful Synthesis abilities like Precipice of the Abyss and Meteophor, so you might want to keep at least one Mage in your party if you want to use them.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC.
