How to Unlock Jonathan Morris in Vampire Survivors Ode to Castlevania

Vampire Survivors‘ Ode to Castlevania DLC features Jonathan Morris (not to be confused with his father, John Morris) as one of its many unlockable characters. Here’s how to evolve the Hand Grenade and add yet another vampire hunter to your collection.

How to evolve the Hand Grenade and unlock Jonathan in Vampire Survivors

To unlock Jonathan Morris in Vampire Survivors, you must evolve the Hand Grenade by maxing out both the Hand Grenade and a Candelbrador on any stage.

The RPG: Hand Grenade (Max) + Candelabrador (Max)

The quickest method is to use Arcana VIII—Mad Groove on Dairy Plant, Moongolow, or Ode to Castlevania, which will pull a Candelabrador (or Arma Dio) directly to you. As always, Golden Eggs are your best friend for quick evolutions.

If you don’t have the Hand Grenade yet, you must first unlock Soma Cruz by defeating Gergoth with Julius Belmont. To find Gergoth, enter Ode to Castlevania, teleport to the Capra Gate, and then backtrack through the north path. The first red sigil you find summons it.

If you haven’t found the Capra gate yet, then use our map above for the quickest route straight to Gergoth from the start of the map. This big boss shouldn’t give you too much trouble at this point in the game.

Full Name:Jonathan Morris
Weapon:Javelin
Passive Bonus:Charge ability affected by Speed: triggers all equipped weapons from the Coat of Arms.
Weapon Evolution:Javelin (Max) + Spellbinder = Long Inus

Jonathan’s starting weapon is the (pretty sucky) Javelin, which evolves into Long Inus at max level when combined with Spellbinder. Getting the Javelin to Level 3 adds it to the regular pool of weapons for all survivors.

Eric Lecarde, and eventually Richter Belmont require the Javelin, making the effort worthwhile despite its considerable lack of power.

Vampire Survivors and the Ode to Castlevania DLC are available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and mobile devices.
