Pocket Card Jockey is back again, thank goodness. Even though the impending 3DS eShop shutdown means one version could be lost, Game Freak’s solitaire and horse racing mashup lives on via Apple Arcade. The fact that there are simulation elements in there might throw people off, though. Especially if you aren’t sure how to start raising your own horses. Fortunately, unlocking the farm and getting to breed horses in Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On is easy and not dissimilar to the original 3DS release.
How to Unlock the Farm and Breed Horses in Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On
Okay. So just getting the farm isn’t too difficult. Once your horse becomes a full grown adult at five years old, it will retire. You’ll then be able to access it and pair it up at the farm. So playing through solitaire matches and racing in Pocket Card Jockey will probably unlock that in between one and two hours.
However, actually getting to breed horses in Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On takes a bit longer. That’s because you need one male and one female horse. As you go through the game, you’ll unlock more loaner horses by hitting milestones like racing a certain number of times or racking up wins. Every horse that you ride becomes accessible in the farm after they retire. So if you want to start breeding them ASAP, you need to make sure your second loaner horse is the opposite gender from the one you started out with. After that, go to the farm, place both of them in the field at the same time, go through some races with another horse, and you should come back to a new foal you can race that takes traits and skills from its parents.
Pocket Card Jockey: Ride On is available for Apple Arcade subscribers with iOS devices.
