Temtem: Swarm is a highly entertaining (and cute) roguelike shoot ’em up. The game’s premise is to survive the endless hordes of enemies and defeat an almighty boss at the end of the stage. However, it’s not that simple, as the enemies will get progressively more powerful with time, requiring you to invest in the skill tree to strengthen your Temtem’s stats and abilities, which offers a satisfying gameplay cycle with a ton of replayability.
Temtem: Swarm has just launched in early access, with seven potential playable Temtems. When you start a new save, you will have two characters: Platypet and Smazee. To unlock a new Temtem, you will need to earn an egg by completing a task and then hatching the egg in an event space. As you can tell by that description, there are a few steps you will need to take, so in this guide, we will tell you what you need to do to unlock every Temtem in the game. It’s worth mentioning that the developers intend to add more playable Tems later, so this only covers the ones at launch.
How Do I Earn an Egg and Hatch Them in Temtem: Swarm?
As mentioned above, to unlock a new Temtem, you first need to get your hands on an egg. This will be tied up with beating a particular boss battle. Unlike creature-breeding games, no amount of time will help you hatch the egg you obtain. Instead, you will have to go onto a stage and wait until three minutes have passed. Once this has happened, an event will become available on the map. There will be an icon with an egg. We have taken a screenshot of the symbol to give you an idea of what it looks like (the icon at the bottom of the screenshot).
Head to this location and a blue circle will appear on the floor. Step onto this, and stay there until the event starts. The egg will then emerge on the map, and it’s your job to protect the egg for a short duration. Luckily, protecting the egg is not too difficult of a task. Once the time limit is up, you can pick up the egg. At the end of the stage, the egg will hatch, and you will have a brand new playable Temtem.
Each Temtem will have different requirements, so we will break down each one indivudally so you know what to do.
How Do I Unlock Oree?
To get the Digital Egg, you must beat Golzy, who will appear on the Cipanku map at the ten-minute mark. To beat this boss early on, we recommend using Platypet and equipping techniques like Water Blade and Toxic Ink, as this will allow you to keep a healthy distance away from Golzy while inflicting damage. Afterwards, return to the Cipanku map and hatch the egg at the three-minute event.
How Do I Unlock Innki?
To obtain the Electric Egg, you will need to beat Nessla, who appears on the Cipanku stage after fifteen minutes. Again, we recommend using Platypet as they are a well-balanced Temtem for long and short-range attacks. It doesn’t seem that hatching the egg is tied up with any map. But for reference, we did it on the Deniz stage.
How Do I Unlock Pigepic?
To unlock everyone’s favourite flying pig, you will have to obtain and hatch the Wind Egg. For this, you must beat Oceara, who shows up on the Deniz stage after fifteen minutes. We suggest using Innki or Platypet for this stage and techniques specialising in long-distance moves. To crack open this egg, return back to the Deniz stage for another run and complete the egg event.
How Do I Unlock Houchic?
To get a hold of the Mental Egg, you will need to defeat Aohi, who resides on the Arbury stage. Aohi will appear on the map when fifteen minutes have passed. Arbury is arguably one of the easier stages, so you shouldn’t have too much of a problem. But ensure you have fully evolved your Temtem to give yourself the best chance of beating the boss. After this, go back into Arbury and complete the egg event.
How Do I Unlock Crystle?
Crystle is easily the hardest Temtem to unlock, and it will probably take a few runs until you get the little critter. To get the Crystle Egg, you must beat Gharunder, who appears on the Tucma map after fifteen minutes. To beat Gharunder, we highly suggest investing in either Innki or Platypet’s skill tree so they have reasonably good stats before starting the run. We recommend picking up gear that heals health and utilises techniques with long-ranged attacks. In our first successful run, we used Platypet and picked up gears like Drill and Holster, which increased attack output. We hatched the Crystle Egg in the Cipanku stage.
