There are just a handful of spells you can learn, some more beneficial than others. While there are a total of six combat related spells, not all are unlocked through progression. Specific spells must be unlocked through side quests, which we’ve outlined below.

How to Unlock Immobilize

Immobilize is unlocked when you face off against the Bullguard in Chapter One. A cutscene will play and the Destined One will learn the spell. There is no possible way to miss this spell, as fighting the Bullguard is required to progress the game.

How to Unlock Cloud Step

Like Immobilize, you cannot miss Cloud Step. Upon defeating the Black Wind King in Chapter One, you will unlock this spell. the Black Wind King is a mandatory fight, and will take place in a derelict temple. You will encounter this character once again in Chapter One, with Cloud Step being one of several tools you can use to defeat him.

How to Unlock A Pluck of Many

A Pluck of Many is a bit out of the way to obtain in Chapter Two. In order to learn A Pluck of Many you’ll need to make your way down some dunes to find the Headless Minstrel who will be somewhere near the Windseal Gate shrine. “Speak” to him to learn the spell.

Rock Solid is obtained in Chapter Two, and is a spell obtained after defeating the Tiger Vanguard. What makes this skill useful, is that it functions somewhat like a parry. So players that prefer to bait out attacks for retaliation will want to make use of Rock Solid.

How to Unlock Ring of Fire

Getting Ring of Fire isn’t as straightforward as you might think. You’ll obtain this spell in Chapter Three after defeating the Macaque Chief for the second time, a local hermit will teach you Ring of Fire.

How to Unlock Spell Binder

This is by far the most complicated spell to obtain in Black Myth Wukong. You will unlock this spell in Chapter Three, but the process is lengthy. You will first need to find a Monk at the Bitter Lake, who can be encountered if you defeat all enemies in the area. Go to the Tower of Karma then cast Ring of Fire once the Monk mentions that he’s cold. After that, head to the Melon Field to engage the Monk in combat.
