How to Unlock a Leafling Look in Pikmin 4

As you go through Pikmin 4, you’ll eventually encounter strange enemies. Called Leaflings, they’re actually another type of person you’ll need to rescue. Once you get to a certain point, you can actually change your character’s appearance and unlock a Leafling look for them in Pikmin 4.

How to change your appearance and give your avatar the Leafling look in Pikmin 4

The first way to unlock the Leafling look, and change your appearance at all in Pikmin 4, is to unlock Puddle. This is one of the non-story-related castaways in the game. You’ll find him after rescuing nine total people from caves. You can’t go to a specific map and pick him up.

Once Puddle is saved and at your base camp, you’ll be able to talk to him to change your look. Doing so will also let you take the side quest “Leafling Meet and Greet.” This is accomplished by beating 10 Leaflings at their Dandori cave challenges in maps. I didn’t hit this point until I’d gotten to Hero’s Hideaway and rescued almost every Leafling there and prior to that point.

Once you do this and talk to Puddle again, you’ll unlock the ability to choose a Leafling look in Pikmin 4.
