Throughout FFVII Rebirth, you’ll happen upon an NPC in towns called Snaps who will ask you to take a Scenic Spot photo, but he doesn’t explain how to complete the quest immediately. Fortunately, actually figuring out how to accomplish these side quests is pretty easy after first encountering him in Junon.
How do I take a photo for Snaps in FFVII Rebirth via Photo Mode?
Basically, the Snaps Association of Photography Aficionados sidequests are an extension of the game’s Photo Mode. Once you get one of these “assignments” and see it on the map, you simply need to go to the place, open Photo Mode, and then take a screenshot with the PS5 button.
Here’s how you do such a thing. Bring up the Main Menu. Once you do, you’ll notice that at the bottom of the screen, it mentions some hotkeys at the bottom right. While saving is attached to triangle, confirm is linked to X, and back out of what you’re doing by pressing O, Photo Mode is brought up by pressing the square button. Press that when you’re at the right part during a Snaps quest, press the screenshot share button, and you’ll be set.
When can I first meet Snaps in FFVII Rebirth?
The first time you meet Snaps is in Kalm. However, you will meet him again in Chapter 4 when visiting Under Junon. He’ll be in the lower portion of the city run by Rhonda, and you’ll probably walk right past him the first time you’re there due to the layout of the city.
Here’s exactly where you can see him, as I marked it on the map and showed a screenshot of him in his “natural environment” there.
The first time you see Snaps in a city, I recommend you always talk to him! Even if you don’t intend to take the quest, you’ll get a new photo frame for your Photo Mode shots. So in Junon, you get Junon Jubilation. He’ll also mark the spot on your map where the region’s Scenic Spot photo assignment is.
Here’s a screenshot of the map I took that again shows the exact location, as well as some Chocobo Stop and Crow’s Nest fast travel spots near it.
In the case of his first meeting, “Junon – Scenic Spot” won’t immediately be accessible! This is because it is around Crow’s Nest, and you can’t access that until you advance the main campaign a bit. Play until after you’ve met Yuffie and Roche. When you get a message saying “Fast travel is now available” and “new quests are available in the Junon region” after “Pricilla’s Plan” opens up, you can make your way over to the location. Take the “When Words Won’t Do” sidequest from Rhonda to help open up the Crow’s Nest area. Right near the south exit of that town, you’ll find the path to take to the washed up ship.
The first time you approach the spot, you’ll automatically trigger the tutorial for completing the “Junon – Scenic Spot.” I took a screenshot of that, as well as shared the photo I “took” that satisfied Snaps’ requirement. As you can see, what they wanted was the picture of Junon from afar!
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is available on the PS5, with the exclusivity arrangement ending on May 29, 2024.
