Bethesda finally released the first DLC expansion for the space opera open planets RPG, Starfield. With the arrival of Shattered Space, players have an entirely new planet and storyline to explore. But you must fulfill some requirements if you want to know how to start the Starfield Shattered Space DLC right now.
Starfield Shattered Space level and mission requirements, Explained
The first requirement is the most important one: you need to actually own the DLC in the first place. If you happen to have the base game only or play through Xbox Game Pass, you won’t have the DLC expansion. You’ll have to upgrade to a higher version or purchase the standalone DLC. That said, if you have the Premium or Constellation versions, you already have access to this DLC.
With that in mind, there is a story requirement within the game as well. You need to complete the initial main story mission “One Small Step.” Considering this is the prologue mission you have to do to be able to explore the galaxy in the first place, you may already have this done. Beyond that, Bethesda recommends reaching at least level 35 before starting the DLC. That said, this is not a requirement.
How do I start the Starfield Shattered Space DLC story quest
Once you meet all of the above requirements, you are now ready to know how to start the Starfield Shattered Space DLC expansion. What you want to do is get in your ship and grav-jump to any star system that isn’t required for a mission or event currently. Once you arrive there, you should receive a special distress call that involves the space station The Oracle.
As long as you receive that distress call, you are good to go. What you want to do is head to The Oracle and follow the lead of the distress call. This will inevitably start the Shattered Space DLC expansion with its initial, lengthy quest “What Remains” and take you to the home world of House Va’ruun’s home world, which is where the entire storyline takes place.
Starfield and the Shattered Space DLC expansion are both now available for Xbox Series X/S and PC.
