How to Start Metaphor: ReFantazio Eupha Bond, Beat Homo Pento

As with Junah, starting the Eupha Bond relationship and unlocking access to the Summoner Archetype in Metaphor: ReFantazio means going through a Virga Island quest and defeating a boss called Homo Pento. At least in Eupha’s case, her mission opens up immediately after you complete the events at the Dragon Temple dungeon. You don’t have to wait too long to unlock everything.

How do I start the Bond relatioship with Eupha and unlock the Summoner Archetype in Metaphor: ReFantazio?

After you’ve completed the events at the Dragon Temple and you’re back on Virga Island, you can opt to spend some time with Eupha. Doing so will involve Edeni approaching her and suggesting she take on “The Trial of Malnova” to prepare for her adventures in the outside world. This means going to the Land of Ceremony Malnova Archipelago dungeon, and the only reward listed will be points for the Wisdom Royal Virtue. If that comes up, you’re on the right track.

This dungeon is slightly more challenging than the one to unlock Junah’s social link. This is because there is a lot of going up and down staircases to reach the final chamber. It’s honestly impossible to get lost, however, and you can throw switches to open doors for backtracking and easier access.

Note that you can find a relic that helps with increasing your Bond with Neuras and further unlocking the Gunner Archetype line, so make sure you grab that along the way. You’ll pass right by it on your way to the final trial fight. I took screenshots showing where you can find it on the map, which you can see below. It isn’t even in a locked-away room, which helps!

The boss fight at the end of the “The Trial of Malnova” quest in Metaphor: ReFantazio is the Homo Pento human. However, it isn’t the only monster you face. It will summon up an undead Summon Knight Skeleto to fight alongside it, which can be a pain. Also, you must have Eupha in this fight alongside you, so two of the four members of your party going in will be the protagonist and her.

This human boss repels wind, which is tied to one of Eupha’s two starting summons, so that’s a pain. It is weak against fire and holy attacks, however! Making sure the other allies know Bot, Botra, Hama, and Hamaon are huge helps here! As for the Summon Knight Skeleto, the best attacks against it are Strike and holy ones. Since the two enemies share the weakness to light and the undead ally isn’t strong against fire, AOE attacks for both elements are a good tactic.

Once you win, you immediately get a Talisman of the Night and Talisman of the Wargod as rewards. Those can be used to create new summons for Summoners when you visit More. You also get the promised Wisdom points. However, at the end of it you and Eupha talk and Bond, forming the new relationship and gaining access to the Summoner Archetype for all characters in Metaphor: ReFantazio. Note that for someone else to become a Summoner, they need Seeker rank 15, Faker rank 10, and 11,000 MAG. To become a Devil Summoner, you need Summoner rank 20, Magic Seeker rank 10, Eupha at a rank 6 Bond, and 18,000 MAG.

Metaphor: ReFantazio is available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. There is also a demo available.
