How to Solve the Sacred Wounds Puzzle in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

The Sacred Wounds Puzzle is required to progress through Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, but it can be tricky to figure out if you’re unfamiliar with Christian scripture. This guide explains the Sacred Wounds and how to find the correct numbers to push the levers to.

If you’d like to have a go at solving this puzzle yourself, Jesus’ five Sacred Wounds are:

  • A nail in his right hand.
  • A nail in his left hand.
  • A nail in his left foot.
  • A nail in his right foot.
  • A spear wound in his torso.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: Sacred Wounds Puzzle Solution

To solve the Sacred Wounds Puzzle, you must pour wine into the basin of five murals to reveal numbers that correlate to the wounds on Jesus’ body. Here’s how to find each mural and which Sacred Wound they represent.

Left Hand

To the left of the main mural is a smaller mural depicting Jesus holding a chalice in his left hand. Remove the statue and pour the wine into the basin to reveal a number.

Take a photograph with the camera to note this number, as this is the notch you must pull the lever next to Jesus’ left hand on the Sacred Wounds mural later.

Right Hand

Enter the room on the left of the chalice mural and pour wine into the basin to reveal the number for the right hand. The gate behind you will lock, so enter the passageway into the next room

Torso

In this room is a statue of Longinus holding the Holy Spear, which pierced Jesus’ torso. Approach the statue, pour wine into the basin, and take note of the number. To exit the room, pick up the stick and hit the weak point on the wall to re-enter the main chamber.

Right Foot

Once you’re back in the main chamber, walk to the smaller mural of Jesus walking on water to the right. As usual, pour wine into the basin to reveal the number of the right foot.

Left Foot

To reach the final mural, walk over to the gap next to the gate on your right, then squeeze through. Pour wine into the basin of the mural depicting Mary Magdalene using her hair to wipe his feet to reveal the number of the left foot. To return to the main chamber, pull the chain next to the gate to open it.

At the mural of Jesus on the cross, you must push the levers to the respective numbers based on the numerals revealed by the wine. For me, this was II on the left hand, II on the right hand, III on the torso, III on the right foot, and IV on the left foot. This may vary in your playthrough, however.

Once the levers have been pushed to their correct number, the Sacred Wounds Puzzle will be marked as complete, and you can continue with the mainobjective of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. If the secret passageway didn’t open, try switching the numbers for left and right around.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is available for Xbox Series X/S and PC and will launch on PlayStation 5 in 2025.
