The Silent Hill series is rife with puzzles, expecting players to put together context clues found throughout the environment and even in notes to progress through the “otherworldly” town. Silent Hill 2 is no exception, which means the remake will have some real headscratchers for you to ponder over. This guide, specifically, will help you in solving the Hanged Man Prison puzzle in the Silent Hill 2 remake.
How to Solve the Hanged Man Prison Puzzle in Silent Hill 2 Remake
Thankfully, you will be given everything you need for this puzzle, and the solution seems to be the same on every difficulty. Once you’ve equally distributed the weighs on the scale beneath the statue of Judgement, head to the platform just behind it to pull the Executioner’s sword. This will cause a panel to open up and several nooses will appear.
A total seven riddles will be available for you to solve, but you don’t need to. You only need the answer to proceed. The placard will ask you to figure out which man was justified in his action (which was murder) and to pull the corresponding rope.
You can find a picture of where each placard belongs if you feel like slotting them in below. A big hint here is that all of the placards will rhyme. For example, one part of a placard reads “The one who dared to take his own mother’s life,” rhymes with the placard “A monster’s life it was ended with a knife.” Take this into consideration when solving the puzzle.
As to the answer, well.. The innocent man is the one who murdered his mother, as she was apparently monstrous. This more or less fits the theme of the game, regardless of how grim it is. So head on over to noose number five and yank it down. Once you’ve solved this puzzle you’ll find yourself in an entirely new area.
The Silent Hill 2 remake will come out on October 8, 2024 for the PS5 and Windows PC.
