How to Save Isobel in Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 is full of choices for players to make, and one of the core choices in Act 2 requires players to decide if they want to save Isobel or not. This is a tough choice, not because of your options, but how the game makes it quite a challenge to rescue her in the first place.

How to Save Isobel in Baldur’s Gate 3

Isobel is the guardian for the Last Light Inn, which is one of the core locations you visit in Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3. It is the one safe zone in all of the entire shadow-cursed lands. After meeting Jaheira and speaking with her, she will tell you to talk with Isobel on the second floor of the inn.

Make sure to save before speaking with her, as you immediately have to make a choice and possibly face a tough fight. Isobel will note that she is the reason there’s a barrier around the inn in the first place. Without her, it goes away and everyone will be attacked by the shadow curse.

Right on cue, one of General Thorm’s minions called Fist Marcus shows up to kidnap her. You can hand Isobel over to him if you are feeling evil, as this will automatically kill most everyone in the inn. On the other hand, you can save Isobel and keep everyone safe.

However, this route is tough, as you now need to take on Fist Marcus and his swarm of demons. Despite having the entire settlement on your side, this is a challenging fight. I recommend closing the door of the room you’re in and focusing solely on Marcus.

He has a ton of health, so some of the best spells to use are Cloud of Daggers and Moonbeam. These are AOE spells that persist for a time. They are great at continuously damaging Marcus and any demons that show up. Alternatively, you can use the rare Polymorph spell to turn Marcus into a useless creature with far less health.

I suggest having characters like Shadowheart for healing Isobel, so she isn’t kidnapped, and Wyll for his AOE spells. If Isobel’s health hits zero, Fist Marcus will take off with her.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for PCs and will release for the PS5 on September 6, 2023.
