With the release of FFXIV Dawntrail, you may find yourself stuck on a World other than your Home World due to the being caught away from your usual haunts before the 48-hour maintenance began on June 26, 2024. It’s fairly easy to head back, though if technical difficulties come up due to things like congestion, you may need to wait a while.
How do I return to my Home World in FFXIV?
Getting to your Home World in FFXIV is just like going to visit another one. You’ll basically go through the exact same routine again. First, you need to head to the Central Aetheryte Plaza in a major city like Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, or Ul’dah. Here are the coordinates for those main Aetherytes in each of the cities.
- Gridania Aetheryte Plaza – X:11.9, Y:11.8
- Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks – X:9.4, Y:11.2
- Ul’dah – X:8.2, Y:7.8
When there, you click on the Aetheryte to bring up the menu. Choose “Visit Another World Server,” just like you would if you were going to use the World Visit System to visit a place other than your Home World in FFXIV. This menu will show your Home World and Current World in the upper right under World Info. An icon will also appear in the World List next to the one that is your Home World. Click on it to start the process.Â
So if I’m on the Primal North American Data Center visiting the Lamia world, but I’m normally from Behemoth, I’d click Behemoth to return. The menu would then ask me to confirm that I want to head to that World. (Of course, the answer would be yes.) The World Visit window will then open to show you are transferring back to your original world. Note that depending on levels of congestion and other factors, it may take a while to make the trip. You will see the average wait time, and you’ll also know what your exact position is in the queue while this is going on.
However, if there is an extenuating issue, you may have to wait until Square Enix addresses that to return home. This happened during the FFXIV Dawntrail early access launch on June 28, 2024. Square Enix noted a server setting issue caused people in the North American and European Data Centers to be unable to return home for almost five hours. If you experience that sort of issue, it is wise to check the official Lodestone site and social media news account for your region for updates on technical issues.
Final Fantasy XIV and its Dawntrail expansion are now in early access on the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X and PC, and the full Dawntrail launch starts on July 2, 2024.
