How to Recruit Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3

The characters are what make Baldur’s Gate 3 such an impressive game, and the party members doubly so. If you want to have one of the best party members, you should recruit Shadowheart and add her to your team. You can recruit Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3 pretty early, but only if you do it right away.

Where to Find Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3

What you need to do is recruit the Cleric Shadowheart at the very beginning of Baldur’s Gate 3. During the prologue aboard the ship, there comes a point where you walk into a room where there are several pods around and some tortured souls.

This is the final room before the bridge, which is the last segment of the prologue. You want to interact with the console to the right of her pod. You’ll have the option to investigate and figure out how it works. I suggest saving the game here, as there is a dice roll you’ll have to deal with.

What you can do is use your mind to figure out the right buttons to open up the pod. This is by far the easiest way to open up the pod and let Shadowheart out of it. Again, save before the dice roll in case you fail it, especially if your Wisdom stat is quite low.

If you miss out on recruiting Shadowheart at this point in the story, there is a possibility that you’ll be able to get her again in the Druid Grove. In the early access version of the game, you could encounter her there and she would even appear at your campsite during one scene where you could recruit her.

However, this scene and event isn’t guaranteed to be the same in the full release. It’s best to guarantee her addition by recruiting her during the prologue.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for PCs and will release for the PS5 on September 6, 2023.
