How to Recruit Minthara in Baldur’s Gate 3

If you are feeling adventurous and a little evil, there is one party member you can get early in your playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3. Minthara is one of the trickiest companions to recruit, due to it meaning you’ll be missing out on another one in the process. Here’s how you recruit Minthara in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Where to Find and Recruit Minthara in Baldur’s Gate 3

Early in Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3, you get the option to help the Druid Grove by saving the Druid Halsin and taking out the goblins. But there is another option. You can side with the Goblin Camp, eliminating both the Druids and, sadly, the Tiefling refugees.

To go about this, first you need to become a friend of the Goblin Camp. You can do this in a few different ways, but the easiest is to save the goblin prisoner Sazza from the Emerald Grove. Lock pick her cell and either leave the camp through the front gate (requires multiple skill checks) or use the back entrance.

Have her escort you to the Goblin Camp and everyone will be friendly there. Head inside and speak with Minthara, then agree to help her execute everyone in the Druid Grove. I don’t recommend saving Halsin, who is kept prisoner in the camp, as he will make the attack on the grove much harder.

Meet Minthara at the grove, and you can even choose to betray the Tiefling leader Zevlor to open up the gate and let the goblins in. Either way, your goal is to kill all of the refugees and druids, all while keeping Minthara alive.

Should you accomplish this challenging task, Minthara will finally join your camp. You’ll be able to start romancing and fighting alongside the evil Paladin from then on. Note that going this route will lock you permanently out of recruiting Halsin. There is currently no way to recruit both companions.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for PCs and will release for the PS5 on September 6, 2023.
