Chisato is one of the last party members you can recruit in Star Ocean: The Second Story R and is easily missable, as you may already have eight people before you meet her. However, if you know what to do she’s a pretty easy party member to get, so lets dive into it.
How do I recruit Chisato in Star Ocean: The Second Story R?
You can recruit Chisato during either Claude or Rena playthroughs of Star Ocean: The Second Story R. To successfully add her to your roster, you have to watch specific events triggered by her in various locations during Private Actions in Nede at Centropolis. Pay attention to your map, as all of the scenes are noted by exclamation marks.
Upon arriving in Nede, the first encounter with Chisato takes place outside Centropolis’ city hall. As you exit the building, do not go straight instead head left head left. She’ll appear before you, promptly fleeing upon noticing your presence. This marks the initial event trigger subsequent Private Action encounters. None of the rest will happen if you miss this event and have eight characters in your party, locking you out of recruiting her, so don’t forget this part.
The second opportunity to spot Chisato is when you reach North City on Nede. From a distance, she stands in front of a house, promptly fleeing yet again once she catches sight of you.
The final encounter occurs within the depths of the Cave of Crimson Crystals. When Noel escorts the party in search of a wild Psynard, you can view the last scene once you head to the bottom level. Chisato, in a hurried escape, will fall on the upper level, dropping her ID card in the process. You must get this card to recruit Chisato in Star Ocean: The Second Story R.
Once you return to Centropolis, head to City Hall. If you go to the editorial floor, you can find Chisato at her desk to the left. Talking to her with the ID card will allow you to finally recruit her for your party.
It’s a shame Chisato comes in so late, as she’s a very good party member to have around. I definitely recommend leaving a spot for her in your party, since it is possible to get to her and not have the space to recruit her.
Star Ocean: The Second Story R is out now on the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC.
