How to unlock King and I Fusion Spell in Persona 3 Reload

Starting around 8/17, you can pick up Elizabeth Request 50, “Perform King and I” in Persona 3 Reload. The side quest asks you to “Carry out the “King and I” Fusion Spell. If you were confused about how to complete this quest, you aren’t alone! After all, the request’s description doesn’t exactly include much information. To complete the task, you need first to obtain the special spell through a previous fusion.

To unlock the King and I Fusion Spell in Persona 3 Reload, you must use King Frost and Black Frost. For how to finish the first step, check out our How to Fuse King Frost in Persona 3 Reload guide. Once you’ve obtained both Persona, Elizabeth will automatically give you the “King and I” Fusion Spell after fusing Black Frost in the Velvet Room.

How to fuse Black Frost in Persona 3 Reload

After you’ve fused King Frost, Black Frost is actually fairly easy to obtain as it can be created as a “Special Fusion” with a group of common Persona in the Velvet Room. Below are the steps you can take to fuse Black Frost in P3R:

  • Fast travel to Tartarus or Paulownia Mall, and then enter the Velvet Room Door.
  • Once in the Velvet Room, select “Fuse Persona” and then click the “Special Fusion” option.
  • If you’ve already created King Frost, then you will see the “Black Frost” fusion recipe.
  • To fuse Black Frost, you need:
    • Magician – Jack Frost.
    • Magician – Jack-O’ Lantern.
    • Emperor – King Frost.
  • You should already have Jack Frost and Jack-o-‘Lantern at this point in the game, so Igor and Elizabeth will actually let you purchase them from your Registrar when fusing Black Frost from this menu.

To complete Elizabeth Request 50, you must hop into a battle and use the “King and I” Fusion Spell. However, before you rush out to fight a Shadow, there are a few steps you need to take before you can carry out this performance.

  • Explore Tartarus and fight any Shadow that you see. With each battle you win, the Theurgy meter for the Male Protagonist will continue to increase.
  • Once your Theurgy meter has hit “Max,” enter a battle. When it’s your turn, hold the Theurgy button down and select the “King and I” spell.
  • Let the King and I Theurgy attack play out in your battle.
  • Once the fight is over, exit the floor you are on and return to the lobby of Tartarus.
  • Speak to Elizabeth near the Velvet Room door and report the “King and I” performance to complete Request 50.

So, what do you get for carrying out this chilling performance? A single “Guard Incense II” item. Yep, it’s a bit disappointing, considering this Request requires you to complete several steps. Still, obtaining the King and I Fusion Spell is a reward in itself, as it’s pretty powerful!
