While exploring Upper Dynevron and picking up recipes, you may have found one final piece that’s particularly hard to get to. Turns out there’s a simple trick to this one, so here’s how to get the recipe for the Hearthguard Gauntlets in Eternal Strands.
How to Reach the Hearthguard Gauntlets Recipe in Eternal Strands
In Eternal Strands, recipes in an area are marked by a hammer symbol on the map, and the recipes in the Upper Dynevron area award the Hearthguard set, including the gauntlets. However, the last piece of the set is located in the far south-west corner of the map on an island you can’t easily reach. Ice bridges, your usual method for crossing large gaps, won’t stretch far enough without collapsing so you’ll need to find another way.

And another way there is. To cross you’ll need to do two things: firstly defeat the Ark of the Stricken Earth in order to learn the Ensnaring Blast spell, and secondly remove all of your armor by talking with Casmyn at the camp. Then, make your way to that south-west corner and on to the island spur closest to where the recipe is. You’ll likely notice that without armor Brynn moves far quicker and jumps further when not weighed down by armor, and this applies to spell physics too.
Essentially, to reach the island we’ll be placing an ensnaring blast on the ground, running over it and detonating once we’re past the mid point to ‘rocket-jump’ over the gap. It will likely take you a few tries to get this right, so make sure you’ve dropped off any resources you want to keep at camp to avoid losing them when you fall. If you aren’t getting enough air, you may need to return to the Ark of the Stricken Earth and harvest it to get level 2 of the spell, though beware that at higher levels you might want to actually put some armor back on to offset a little bit of the explosive force.

Time the blast just right and you should be able to sail over to the island, rolling as you hit the ground to lessen the fall damage. There will be an Elite Ark of the Tower for you to dispatch, along with a chest and the recipe marked by a glowing ball of light.
What Stats do the Hearthguard Gauntlets have in Eternal Strands?
The Hearthguard Gauntlets, like the rest of the set in Eternal Strands, focus on giving you a big chunk of bonus armor. To compensate for the physical protection, however, they have very little innate resistance and are extremely heavy. In our experience, elemental resistance usually trumps straight armor so when crafting a set you may want to shore up that weakness by using elementally resistant materials rather than protective or even balanced ones. Additionally, while the weight may impede climbing and exploring, against certain foes being knocked around less can actually be a blessing.
