How to Mod Baldur’s Gate 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a massive and wonderful RPG, but some players may want to fix certain aspects or even add new content. That is where mods come into play. Here is how to mod Baldur’s Gate 3 on a PC through the main two methods.

How do I Mod Baldur’s Gate 3 on my PC?

The two ways to mod Baldur’s Gate 3 depend on if you want to do everything manually or have the Mod Manager do it all for you. If you want to do everything manually, start by downloading mods like the ones recommended below. Once you download them, open up your game file, which usually appears at the following path:

  • C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Larian Studios\Baldur’s Gate 3\Mods

There, you simply want to move the mods you downloaded. This should activate them and result in them being ready for you to use in the game.

The second method is to download the Mod Manager. This lets you take the mods you download and have the manager automatically detect them for you. You can then choose to activate and deactivate mods with ease anytime within the BG3 Mod Manager. This simplifies the process and makes it easier to know what all you have installed in case of issues or conflicts.

Best Mods We Would Recommend

Now that you know how to mess around with mods in this RPG, you might be wondering which ones to download and try from NexusMods. Here are a few of the mods I like a lot and recommend to players:

  • New Character Presets: You can never have enough avatar customization options in this game and this mod brings a ton more for character face models and more.
  • Tav’s Hair Salon: The hair options are fine but could be much better and more inclusive. This mod brings a ton more excellent hair options for players. Great starter mod, too.
  • Everybody Dyes Unlimited: This gives you unlimited dyeing for clothes and armor. This makes dye less annoying to deal with and gives you more freedom for colors.
  • Party Limit Begone: This radical mod makes the party limit up to eight players online together or 16 party members including NPCs. It completely changes how battles shape.
  • Recruit Any NPC: Forget trying to figure out how to recruit Minthara to your party without making everyone mad. This mod lets you recruit or anyone else for that matter in the game.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
