“A Bone to Pick” is a helpful quest in FFXVI, as it helps make Torgal better. It only shows up in the latter half of the game. (I was around the 70% mark when it appeared, following my adventures in the Dhalmekian Republic.) It also isn’t particularly challenging, as it is a typical “talk to people, fight monsters, bring back items from what you defeated” one. However, you can miss it if you don’t check Clive’s desk at the hideaway for missives.
How to find “A Bone to Pick” in FFXVI and make Torgal stronger.
Charon will send you a letter expressing concern about Torgal. It isn’t that anything seems really wrong, though. She would get bones from Molly and the hideaway’s kitchen for him as a treat, and now he’s not showing any interest. After talking, head to Tomes to find out if he has any insight. He’ll explain it could have to do with Torgal’s new developments and needing more hearty meals. He suggests getting some Elder Antelope bones and see if that helps.
From there, use the Molly’s Rest fast travel to go to Rosaria. You’ll want to head north, then east, to Cressida. You’ll see the herd ahead of you. I took a screenshot of the map, so you can see exactly where they are.
They’re at level 33, and I was at level 33 and found the fight almost too easy. So it shouldn’t pose a challenge when you get there.
You’ll get five Elder Antelope Femurs for the trouble. Head back to Charon to give her the bones and tell her the good news. Then go to Tomes and let him know how things turned out. The quest will end with you getting 500 EXP, 800 gil, 20 renown, 50 Sharp Fangs, and a Cavall’s Fang. This is an accessory that will increase Torgal’s attack when equipped.
Final Fantasy XVI is available for the PlayStation 5. There is a six-month exclusivity period.
