How to Link Honkai: Star Rail Account to PS5

You can now link Honkai: Star Rail to PS5, as the popular free-to-play game is finally available for console players for the first time. Unfortunately, the process can be a bit convoluted depending on what kind of account a player has.

How to transfer your Honkai: Star Rail Account and Save to PS5

To link your Honkai: Star Rail account to PS5, download the game on your console and open it up. Once you boot up the game, you should get the option to log into your existing HoYoVerse account. If you have an account you want to continue from PC or mobile, all you need to do is use the right email and password combination.

This should load up your existing game file and let you continue. Even better, if you linked your PSN account to your HoYoVerse account for something like Genshin Impact, you won’t have to do anything, as the game will automatically log you in and let you start playing.

However, there are some players who may run into a bug with linking their account. Thankfully, there is a fix for this.

What to Do If You Can’t Log In

Some players have reported issues connecting their Star Rail save if they had not previously linked Genshin Impact on PS5 to their HoYoVerse account. If this happens to you as it did to me, there are some extra steps you’ll need to follow. This is because the game sometimes doesn’t give you the option to log into your account when starting up Star Rail for the first time. For example, it automatically booted me into a new save file when I opened up the PlayStation version of the RPG.

If this happens to you, you’ll want to play through the game on a brand new file until you can access your phone in the prologue. Once you have the feature, select the account section and then navigate to User Center. At this point, you want to create a random HoYoVerse account with an email you are not going to use.

Once you do this, close the game on PS5 and head to the HoYoVerse website to log into the new throwaway account you just made. When you go here, look for the PlayStation account link and unlink it. Then, close out the site and open up your game on PS5 again.

At this point, you will no longer have an active account, so the game will finally give you the option to create a new user profile or log into an existing one. From here, all you need to do is fill out your login email and password for your old Honkai: Star Rail account that you used on either mobile or PC and type that info in on your PS5.

You’ll then login and immediately be able to use your previous save and characters on the console edition of the free-to-play adventure title.
