How to Heal Zelda in LOZ Echoes of Wisdom

Once you can take control of Zelda in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, she has only three hearts and no real way to defend herself, so it’s important to know how to heal her up! It’s very likely she’ll get injured as you work to learn your first few monster echoes. There are a lot of options to get her health up, at least!

The easiest failsafe is to get hearts. Sometimes when you cut grass, defeat enemies, and destroy rocks, pots, and crates, a little red heart will appear. It won’t restore a lot of her health, but you can rely upon it for a quick assist.

A slower method is to create an echo of a bed. As Zelda is escaping from Hyrule Castle, you’ll come across an old bed you can learn to make. If you create one and move on top of it, you can then press A to rest. Keep in mind this takes a while! Your hearts slowly refill. I only used this option once, when I was in a really dire situation, before turning to other methods.

Potions, foods, and health drinks are also a great way to restore her! For example, buying a Red Potion for 30 rupees will heal five hearts. You can eat isolated ingredients sometimes, like Floral Nectar, but that will typically only restore a quarter of a single heart. It’s better to save those and use them for recipes and drinks. Naturally, food is also an alternative, but it does take a bit before Zelda can start brewing stuff up.

You can also always turn to the trusted fairies! When heading to Suthorn Forest to complete your first objective in the kingdom, you’ll pass a cave before reaching the home Impa directed you to. Go inside to learn the Ignizol echo. As you go through the cave, you’ll eventually need to use it to light a fire to open a door. The chest on the other side contains a fairy bottle. From there, just walk up to any fairy you see flying around. It will immediately go inside. Then, if Zelda falls in battle, you’ll find she’ll be automatically revived and healed by the fairy you had hanging around. The very first fairy you can find is immediately north of the cave where you can find that fairy bottle. You’ll see a pink one floating above a small pond, which I shared in the screenshot above, and have that small friend on-hand.

Once you reach the Faron Wetlands, specifically Scrubton village, you’ll also find your first Smoothie Shop. Essentially, mixing any drink that includes Refreshing Grapes early on will let you make one that will restore health. So keep that in mind too! I found the Refreshing Grapes and Floral Nectar combo is best, as it makes a smoothie that restores ten hearts for 10 rupees.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is available for the Nintendo Switch.
