Starfield features interstellar exploration on a massive level. There are more than 1,000 planets for you to explore. To get across the cosmos, you’ll need to grav jump quite often in Starfield. Here’s how to travel at light speed in the quickest manner possible.
How to Grav Jump in Starfield the Fastest
If there is one element in Starfield that can be the most confusing, it is the user interface. Even a simple task like going from one solar system to another is a bit annoying if you sift through the wrong menus. Fortunately, it is quite easy to grav jump in Starfield.
Let’s say, for instance, you need to go back to New Atlantis for a quest you are in the middle of doing. What I recommend you do is open up the main menu, go to the missions, find that task there, and then press X or the associated button for your platform. This will automatically pull up the exact spot you need to land, such as New Atlantis, and let you instantly grav jump there. This is by far the easiest way to grav jump to a specified destination you need for a quest.
If you don’t have a quest in mind, open up the main menu and choose the map. Press B or the associated button for your platform to back out of the planet, then again to back out of the solar system, and find the destination you wish to grav jump to. You should find the solar system and then planet or moon you want to visit. You should also carefully pick the landing site where you want to leave your ship on the planet. Note that it can take a few seconds to grav jump, which can leave you vulnerable in the middle of fights.
Sometimes if you try to grav jump beyond your limit or to a new place you’ve never been to before, you’ll need to first jump to a solar system you know that is closer and then go from there. You can tell this by Starfield not allowing you to make the jump or some red lines appearing on your path.
If you want to extend the grav jump distance you have, consider ranking up your Astrodynamics skill.
Starfield is available for the Xbox Series X and PC.
