Zelda’s golden horse is a hidden mount with incredible stats in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. But getting it isn’t easy, as you must complete a specific side quest to find and tame the majestic steed.
How to Find Zelda’s golden horse in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?
If you are tired of your horse always running out of stamina every few seconds, you are not alone. While the Epona mount has great stats, it’s locked behind an amiibo, meaning not everyone is able to obtain it. However, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gives you Zelda’s iconic mount for free, and you can obtain it pretty early into Link’s adventure. To get Zelda’s golden horse, you need to unlock the “Potential Princess Sightings” side quest from the Lucky Clover Gazette, which is located just outside the entrance of Rito Village in the Hebra region.
With the mission in hand, travel east to the Snowfield Stable and speak to the bird reporter Penn to receive the “Zelda’s Golden Horse” quest. In this side adventure, Link is tasked with tracking down Zelda’s pet, which has escaped from the stable. Luckily, the majestic horse isn’t too hard to find and is located nearby.
From the stable, head north past the Tabantha Tundra. The rare mount can be found roaming the snowy fields with a group of wild horses. You can find the exact location of Zelda’s golden horse in the images I have posted below:
I know it may be tempting to sprint up to the beautiful golden horse, but don’t! As majestic as the creature is, it still needs to be tamed. Have Link slowly approach the mount by crouching until he is close enough to ride it. After you hop on, immediately start spamming your L button to soothe the animal into submission. It’s recommended that you at least have one and a half stamina circles before attempting this.
And that’s it! Once you’ve tamed the golden horse, ride back to the Snowfield Stable to register it. Zelda’s horse is one of the best Tears of the Kingdom mounts in the game, with a four-star stat rating in both its Strength and Speed stats. You’ll automatically unlock the Royal Bridle and Royal Saddle after registering the creature, allowing Link to ride in style.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
