A new Exotic Scout Rifle has been added to Destiny 2‘s Season of the Deep. Wicked Implement has the Creeping Attrition Insintric Trait, which slows enemies after rapidly landing critical hits. Here’s how to get your hands on the rare weapon.
How do I get a Wicked Implement Exotic Scout Rifle in Destiny 2?
Wicked Implement is tied to a lengthy, difficult quest in Destiny 2. It involves catching three Exotic fish to obtain three Broken Blades, depositing the Broken Blades in specific statues, and then defeating the Omen, Blade of the Black Terrace Tormentor. It’s a lot of hard work, especially since the final section has a 10-minute timer, but the end result is definitely worth it.
To kick off the journey to getting your hands on the Exotic, reel in the following Exotic fish in Destiny 2:
- Whispering Mothcarp: Miasma, Savathun’s Throne World.
- Vexing Placoderm: The Cistern, Nessus.
- Aeonian Alpha-Betta: The Outskirts, EDZ.
With all three caught, take them to the H.E.L.M. and deposit them into the aquarium there. You’ll receive the Broken Blade of Strife, Broken Blade of Ambition, and the Broken Blade of Cunning. You need to place these in three separate Hive statues during a Deep Dives activity.
Where are the three Hive statues?
Before you load up a Deep Dives activity in the H.E.L.M., I’d recommend you do so with either two friends or by finding a Fireteam using the official Destiny 2 app. You’ll rarely find two others who want to make an Exotic attempt via in-game matchmaking.
Once you’re in a Deep Dive, pull the first door switch and then descend to the lower floor in the Twilight Depths. Here, turn right down a tunnel and then right again into an even smaller tunnel. Drop down here, where you’ll find the first Hive statue. Interact with it to use the Broken Blade of Strife and activate the statue.
The second Hive statue becomes available after the first major encounter. Instead of progressing forward and receiving Ahsa’s Gift, make a left once outside and look up to see a door you can jump up to. Go through it, and you’ll find the Hive statue here. Use the Broken Blade of Ambition on it to activate it.
The third and final Hive statue is located in the water between the second and third encounters in the Midnight Depths. After disabling the fan, drop down and make a sharp left, continuing left as you wrap around. You’ll eventually reach the third Hive statue; activate it with the Broken Blade of Cunning. Make sure not to drop down until you’ve lit up the statue. Otherwise, you won’t be able to get back up and will have to restart the entire activity. (I learned that the hard way.)
I lit the Hive statues. Now what?
With all three Hive statues lit, progress forward and beat the next encounter outside. Once it’s over, look to the right, and you’ll see an open door. Enter, where you’ll find three Hive statues, where you and your two teammates must “Carve a Path of Violence” by interacting with them. If, for some reason, you or a teammate don’t have all three Broken Blades, someone else will need to do this part.
Once the statues are lit up, progress forward through the water, defeating enemies along the way. Eventually, you’ll encounter the Khull, Executioner Knight miniboss. You can’t kill him here… Yet. Take out the three Servile Minotaurs in this room, which allows you to damage Khull. Damage him until his first health bar is depleted, and he’ll teleport away.
Continue forward through the water and drop down into a new room, where a 10-minute timer will start counting down. Here, you’ll notice a Resonance Node switch on a podium in the center. Shoot it to activate it and dissipate the orange force field blocking the next section. In here, shoot a second Resonance Node under the staircase and progress into a larger room where Khull awaits you.
Like the previous encounter with Khull, you must defeat three Honed Minotaurs, who are located behind force fields in the left, right, and center sections of the room. Shoot the Resonance Node behind the pillar on the right in the center to disable these and then take out the Minotaurs. You’ll be able to damage and kill Khull now.
After Khull is down, go forward up the stairs until your reach a Rally Banner. Activate it to refill your ammo and Super, then drop down into the maze to start the encounter with the Omen, Blade of the Black Terrace Tormentor. You’re so close to getting Wicked Implement in Destiny 2.
How do I defeat the Omen Tormentor in Destiny 2?
To beat the Omen, Blade of the Black Terrace Tormentor, you must find and defeat four Honed Minotaurs scattered around the maze to disable the Tormentor’s shields. Once the damage phase starts, group up with your Fireteam and unleash everything you’ve got on the enemy. If you don’t kill it in one phase (you probably won’t), you’ll need to find the Honed Minotaurs in the maze again and rinse and repeat.
Remember that you only have 10 minutes to take the Tormentor out, and by the time you’ve reached the maze, you should have eight minutes or so left on the clock. So be fast, or you’ll wipe! For a more detailed guide on how to beat the Tormentor, including what loadout I’d recommend, head over to our How to Beat the Wicked Implement Omen Tormentor in Destiny 2 guide.
Once you and your teammates have successfully ended the Omen Tormentor, walk up to the statue and Gain Audience to receive the Wicked Implement Exotic Scout Rifle in Destiny 2 and complete the mission. I’ve put around 600 hours into Destiny 2 so far, and this was by far the most satisfying thing I’ve done in the game yet, purely based on the fact it took me over 50 tries… The Tormentor is TOUGH.
Destiny 2 is available now on the PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One.
