Torgal is Clive Rosfield’s best pal since childhood in Final Fantasy XVI, and the faithful pup is now available in the MMORPG as well. The adorable little wolf-like buddy is available in two forms through the crossover event: one is a mount that players can race through the various environments upon, and another is the puppy version of Torgal in a minion form.

Fortunately, it is quite easy to unlock both of them. All you need to do is simply beat the crossover event questline, and you will get both the Torgal mount and the pup minion as a reward at the end of the side story. This means heading to Ul’dah, starting the first quest there, and then following the story throughout Gridania until you beat the instanced battle against Infernal Ifrit. Once you are done with this, you will get the Torgal mount and minion at the same time.

How to pet Torgal in FFXIV

The new Torgal mount isn’t just for show in FFXIV. It is possible to pet it and the Torgal minion, which is pretty unique for a mount companion. While you are riding around on Torgal, you will see your hot bar should change. It will be mostly blank except for the “Pet” command.

You can press this command to have your character pet Torgal while still riding the faithful companion. You can do this anytime and anywhere. In addition, it is also possible to pet the pup minion version of Torgal. To do this, you just need to target the minion and type “/pet” or find the emote in the menu.
