Patch 6.45 added various content to Final Fantasy XIV in July 2023, including new Blue Mage quests, house furnishings, and cosmetics. One such FFXIV cosmetic is the Reference Emote, unlocked by using the Ballroom Etiquette – Scrupulous Citations book. However, you need to head to Mount Rokkon or do some shopping to get it.
How do I get Scrupulous Citations for the Reference Emote in FFXIV?
If you don’t want to spend your hard-earned FFXIV Gil, the Ballroom Etiquette – Scrupulous Citations book for the Reference Emote, is obtained by trading nine Rokkon Potsherds with Trisassant in Old Sharlayan (x12, y13.3). Alternatively, you can purchase it from a fellow player on the Market Board. Note that it is expensive at the time of writing. For example, on my server, it is currently going for around 440,000 Gil.
With the Ballroom Etiquette – Scrupulous Citations book in hand, simply click on it in your Inventory and select “Use” to learn the Reference Emote in FFXIV. You can now use the Emote by typing “/reference” in the chatbox or by assigning it to your hotbar from the Emotes menu under the Social tab of the main menu.
Where do I get Rokkon Potsherds in FFXIV?
Rokkon Potsherds are obtained by defeating bosses in the Mount Rokkon level 90 Variant Dungeon and opening the chests that appear. You will need to run the Variant Dungeon at least twice to earn enough to trade the nine Rokkon Potsherds needed to get the Ballroom Etiquette – Scrupulous Citations book from Trisassant in Old Sharlayan.
Final Fantasy XIV is available to play now on the PC, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. A paid subscription is required. The Ambitious Ends hairstyle is another cosmetic item that you can trade for Rokkon Potsherds.
