In the Dragon’s Dogma 2, The Stolen Throne quest, you will need to find Courtly Attire to attend the Masquerade. This guide will explain where to find Courtly Attire in Dragon’s Dogma 2 Masquerade storyline so you can spy on the false Sovran.
How to get Courtly Attire in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and attend the Masquerade
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a game about choice. While all roads lead to mostly the same conclusion, there are several ways to go about attending the Masquerade to potentially move the story forward. I say potentially because you do not need to do every quest assigned to you in Vernworth by Captain Brant. But attending the Masquerade and learning more about the false Sovran and the Queen Regent help add some extra flavor and texture to the events transpiring around you.
Now there are a lot of different ways to get the Courtly Attire, which includes the Courtly Tunic and Courtly Pants. However, the easiest and cheapest method (obtaining it for free!) is by heading to the Noble District in Vernworth. Go to the southeast and enter Allard’s Estate as seen below.
Looking around the house, you will notice a chest. Go to it and pilfer its contents to obtain the attire you need to attend the masquerade. Not only does this net you the attire entirely for free, but you don’t need to do any quests to obtain it (for free) or pay upwards of 600,000 gold at some sellers to get both the pants and tunic.
Once you have obtained the attire, head to Vernworth Castle and head to the west. You will see a guard standing outside a circular building (you can see it in a screenshot further below). He will let you know if a masquerade is happening that night. If it is, you can enter and continue that specific quest. If not, go rest at the inn until night and check back with him.
Make sure to keep the attire, since selling it won’t net you much gold anyways, as you will need it for a later quest required to progress the story. You can always buy the attire again, but depending on the seller you will be spending hundreds of thousands of gold to get it. But on the off chance you have sold it, go to the location where the masquerade was held and in the back rooms you can get another set of attire as shown below.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Courtly Attire Location 2
The second method to get Courtly Attire in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is to complete “the Ornate Box” quest. Near the center of Vernworth, you will find a young boy named Sven arguing with a vendor. Speak to him, and he will ask to borrow money to buy a rare item at the shop. This will then trigger the “Ornate Box” quest. Purchase the ornate box from the seller, then turn around and give it to Sven.
Sven will ask you to return in a few days and meet with him again in Vernworth. Travel to another city or sleep at an Inn. Eventually, return and talk to Sven, and he will give you the Courtly Attire as a reward. The first method we listed above is definitely easier as you don’t need to spend money or have to wait for time to pass. But it’s still a neat option, seeing as Sven ties into the Masquerade storyline in a really interesting way.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 is available for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X.
