How to Get the Bathroom Key for the Timid Guy in Life is Strange: Double Exposure

The highly anticipated Life is Strange: Double Exposure is finally here, and it’s a fantastic narrative-driven adventure. The story follows a decade after the events of the original title, and Max Caulfield has sworn off her powers to rewind. She even now struggles to use it like an atrophied muscle. However, during the course of the game, Max gains a new power called “pulse”, which allows her to observe and travel to a new alternate world. You will need to use this ability quite often to solve numerous environmental puzzles and progress to the next part of the story.

Although it’s not part of the main storyline, there is an achievement tied up with helping the Timid Guy not too long after you’ve gained your newfound abilities. In this guide, we will go over what you must do to help out the poor fella.

How do I help the Timid Guy in Life is Strange: Double Exposure?

You can only help out the Timid Guy when you are at the Snapping Turtle right at the beginning of Chapter 2. If you have not come across this part yet, just play the game normally until you reach it. That said, if you’re on the opposite side of the boat and have already finished Life is Strange: Double Exposure but missed this achievement, go into the chapter select from the main menu and pick “Table for Three” to replay this part of the story.

At the very start of Chapter 2, you will be in the living world, enjoying a catch-up with Safi and Yasmin at the Snapping Turtle. However, Max will be somewhat disorientated during this conversation as she realises she’s on an alternate timeline where Safi was not murdered. After leaving the table, you will need to head to the bathroom. To get there, head north from where you are. By the bathroom door, there will be a shimmering light, which represents a safe place where you can hop between realities (to do this, press LB). Talk to both Amanda’s from the dead and the living world, and then return to the table to continue your conversation with Safi and Yasmin. When this chat ends, you will be able to move about freely in the Snapping Turtle and interact with the environment.

From the tables, you will want to head back to the bathrooms, and on the opposite side, you will see a patio. Head outside, and you will see two guys holding dart guns, being very hush-hush on why they have the bathroom key. You can find out what they’re up to if you overhear their conversation from the dead world. Go back to the bathrooms and jump between realities. Return to the patio and use your ability to see from the other side (this can be achieved by pressing RB). You will then listen in on a conversation where they discuss their plan to shoot the Timid Guy with their dart guns when he heads to the bathroom as part of an undergrad game.

To stop the pranksters in their tracks, you will want to head back inside the Snapping Turtle, and by the side of the bar, there is a mini key holder where the bathroom key is. From here, head back to the living world and put the key you just picked up onto the other world’s mini key holder. How will anyone from the dead world use the bathroom? I don’t know, but at least the Timid Guy won’t be a victim of a college prank, and that’s what matters here (apparently). If you follow every step correctly and help the Timid Guy you will earn the achievement “Loyal Flush”.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure is now available for PS5, Xbox Series X and PC on October 29, 2024. There’s no release window for the Switch version yet.
