How to Get Obducite in Diablo 4

Part of the Diablo 4 end-game is upgrading your gear in various ways to gain powerful passives that enhance your abilities. For example, Tempering allows you to add affixes, passive bonuses for various stats or skills, to your armor and weapons. When stacked on multiple pieces of gear, this can exponentially increase your character’s damage output. Players can take this one step further with Masterworking. Masterworking a piece of gear will increase the power of its affixes, making it essential for tackling Diablo 4’s harder challenges. However, masterworking also requires Obducite, a fairly rare material. It’s important to obtain as much Obducite as you possibly can, but the ways to do so are fairly limited. Here’s how to get Obducite in Diablo 4.

Complete Nightmare Dungeons

Once you’ve completed a few end-game events, you’re bound to have a decent collection of Nightmare Sigils in your inventory. If you’re on the hunt for Obducite, then look no further than the Nightmare Dungeons. To activate a nightmare dungeon, just right-click on the Nightmare Sigil in your inventory. This will alter the corresponding dungeon into its nightmare variant. You’ll even be able to teleport directly to it to save some time! Elite enemies and treasure chests in nightmare dungeons will drop the Obducite you’re looking for. However, farming for Obducite via nightmare dungeons is a little tedious. If you run out of sigils, you’ll need to farm for more. Still, if you’ve amassed a large collection of sigils from doing other content, you might as well get them out of the way to free up some space!

Run Through the Undercity

Added as part of the Vessel of Hatred expansion, The Undercity is a brand-new challenge that yields bountiful rewards. By racing against the clock in a three-floored dungeon, players are rewarded based on how many enemies they were able to defeat before reaching the final boss. Once the boss is defeated, it will drop a variety of items, including a varying amount of Obducite. The key to earning more Obducite from Undercity runs is using Tributes. Tributes can be applied before starting an Undercity run to affect what kind of rewards you receive upon completion. The tribute you want to keep an eye out for is the Tribute of Refinement. Using this on your Undercity run will increase the amount of masterworking materials you receive when you complete it.

Conquer the Infernal Hordes

Fighting the Infernal Hordes is probably the best way to collect large amounts of Obducite. Although it takes longer than the other methods, the Obducite rewards at the end of an Infernal Hordes run is worth it. Once you gain access to Infernal Compasses, right-click them in your inventory to activate varying waves of the Infernal Hordes mode. Fight waves of enemies while collecting Aether from defeated elites, ending in a boss fight against three powerful enemies. Upon completing a run of the Infernal Hordes, three chests will spawn in the boss room. One of those chests converts all of your remaining Aether into gem fragments and other materials. This includes Obducite! The Infernal Hordes are perfect for farming Obducite so long as you’re able to generate a lot of Aether during the run.

Keep in mind, obducite won’t start dropping from enemies or any of the above events until you reach level 60.
