How to Get More Ship Storage in Starfield

You’ll be flying around in Starfield quite a bit, traveling from planet to planet. As you explore various locations, you’ll likely end up with a ton of items in your inventory. If you don’t run around over-encumbered the vast majority of the time, you’ll probably want to take advantage of your ship’s storage. Unfortunately, even the ship storage in Starfield isn’t infinite.

You have two main spots to hold items on your ship: the cargo hold and your captain locker. Both of which are usually on the bridge. Though you could just drop everything on your ship to hold it there, but that isn’t the most organized way to handle it. Here’s how to get more ship storage in Starfield, instead.

How to get more Starfield ship storage

The main way to get more ship storage in Starfield is to get a new ship or upgrade your existing one. What you want to look for is ships with more cargo hold storage than the current one you have. You could opt to buy a ship from a ship technician at any of the major cities and ports in the galaxy.

However, the better ships with more storage are going to likely cost you thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, of credits. You can upgrade your existing ship to have more storage if you want, but that could also cost you a fair bit of money.

I suggest stealing ships from other characters, using the Targeting Control System skill or electromagnetic weapons to disable their ships and take it for yourself. You can also unlock some valuable ships through the Kid Stuff trait, New Game+, Secret Outpost side quest, Crimson Fleet faction, and more.

The more ships you gather, the more overall storage you’ll have, too. The cargo hold isn’t shared across the ships so you can fill up one ship’s storage and then move on to filling up the next. Just don’t lose track of where your stuff is.

Starfield is available for the Xbox Series X and PC.
