The Pumpkin King Returns Update was added to Disney Dreamlight Valley on December 5, 2023, which introduces Jack Skellington from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas as a brand new villager that can be unlocked by players for free. In order to unlock Jack Skellington, players must find and collect a set of Matryoshka Dolls that appear within the game.

How to Get Matryoshka Dolls in Disney Dreamlight Valley

To be able to get the four Matryoshka Dolls in Disney Dreamlight Valley to unlock Jack Skellington, players must first complete the story quest “Forgotten Memories Return.” After this quest is complete, Matryoshka Dolls will automatically spawn randomly in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

The quest “Something Comes A’Knocking” will begin once the player finds one of the Matryoshka Dolls. Alternatively, players may also speak to Merlin to activate the quest. The newly activated quest will inform players they have found a “strange Matryoshka Doll” and asks “where could it belong?” Merlin will also give a tip to look around to figure out the mystery behind the Matryoshka Dolls.

I found two of the Matryoshka Dolls in the Plaza, one in the Forest of Valor, and one in the Sunlit Plateau. Other players will find them in alternate locations within Disney Dreamlight Valley, as they can spawn in any of the biomes within the Valley at random. To note, players who have purchased the Disney Dreamlight Valley DLC Expansion “A Rift in Time” do not have to worry about looking outside of the Valley, as the Matryoshka Dolls will not randomly spawn in the new biomes on Eternity Isle.

The Matryoshka Dolls will be recognized by their oval shape and dark Tim Burton-esque color palate. The Matryoshka Dolls will also glitter when the player is standing close enough to one. Players should ensure that their inventory has enough space for four items. Each Matryoshka Doll is different and occupies its own slot in the inventory.

Once all four Matryoshka Dolls are discovered, players can move forward in the “Something Comes A’Knocking” quest to unlock Jack Skellington.
