One of the most infamous mounts in World of Warcraft history first came out during the beloved Wrath of the Lich King expansion. This is, of course, Invincible’s Reins or the Invincible mount as most of the community calls it. Thankfully, it is slightly easier to get the Invincible mount in World of Warcraft because of the Ulduar Timewalking event.
Invincible’s Reins Mount Original Drop Rate, Explained
Most notably, the main way to get the Invincible’s Reins mount is through defeating the Lich King himself. This is because it is quite literally his actual mount. The problem with this throughout the decades has been the unbelievably small drop rate for this boss. We are talking a meager 0.78% drop rate.
But that isn’t even the worst part of the situation. You could do well over 100 Lich King fights and never see the mount drop. But when you finally do, only one player is going to get it. So, unless you happen to find a wonderful group of players that already have it, you could do all that work and still not get it.
Or you could choose to try and grind Ice Crown Citadel on your own, which is now very possible once you’ve hit level 80. That said, you can only run Ice Crown Citadel on Mythic, which is the only difficulty in which Invincible drops, once a week. Resets happen every Tuesday, so that’s on run, per week, with that abysmally low drop rate to consider.
How to More Easily Get the Invincible Mount in WoW
The one positive about this situation is the temporary Ulduar Timewalking event in World of Warcraft. While this short event is live, players will finally have a slightly better way of obtaining the Invincible mount in WoW. The key here is to queue up for the Ulduar Timewalking Legacy Raid. To do this, you need to first get the Legacy Raid quest from Vormu in Dalaran.
You only need to defeat the boss Yogg-Saron for this quest. Theoretically, you could find a group just to run this boss and then dip from the raid. Completing this quest gives you a Cache of Timewarped Treasures. From what it appears, this has a higher chance of dropping the Invincible mount but it isn’t guaranteed still. The cache rate seems to be around 5%, which is still much more doable at least and you don’t have to compete this way.
World of Warcraft: The War Within is available right now for PC.
