Final Fantasy XIV has plenty of looks for players to unlock in the game, but the latest hairstyle is the FFXIV The Bold and the Braid Modern Aesthetics one. Here’s what you need to do to unlock it.
How do I unlock the FFXIV The Bold and the Braid hairstyle
To get the FFXIV The Bold and the Braid hairstyle added in the 6.51 patch, you need to trade for it with the NPC Trisassant in Old Sharlayan. You can find the NPC at the exact coordinates of X: 12.0, Y: 13.3. The only problem is there is only one type of currency you can trade this new hairstyle for, and that is Aloalo Potsherds.
It costs six Aloalo Potsherds to unlock the new Bold and the Braid hairstyle in the MMO. If you want this stunning look, which gives a long-flowing hairstyle with braids on the side, you’ll need to run a specific dungeon in the game.
How to get more Aloalo Potsherds
To get more Aloalo Potsherds, you need to run the aptly-named Aloalo Island variant dungeon. This is the latest one introduced in patch 6.51. This variant dungeon takes place on a tropical island and has multiple routes for players to pick. You get a few potsherds just for completing a run of the dungeon, but the chests you find within it also can sometimes give you potsherds.
In general, I found you only need to take part in two total runs of the Aloalo Island dungeon to get six potsherds to unlock the new The Bold and the Braid hairstyle. There are other items you can get from this new variant dungeon as well, such as materia, so you may want to grind for those as well.
Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC. It will also release for the Xbox Series X in Spring 2024.
