How to Get FFVII Rebirth Party Skills in Folios

Yup, there are skill trees in FFVII Rebirth for all characters in your party, but you can’t just get new skills in their Folios at any time. Instead, you need to head to Maghnata Books or a Maghnata Automat to make some changes.

When do I get to get party skills in characters’ Folios in FFVII Rebirth

There’s a campaign quest for that! Once the Nibelheim flashback is over in Chapter 1 and Cloud wakes up after a night’s sleep, it will be one of the places Broden will suggest you check. You’ll then head to the flagship “store” in Kalm.

Here’s where it is on the map:

Head inside and you’ll talk to the attendant. A tutorial will trigger introducing the system. You can only access Folios at specific points. So if you’re in a town, you’ll want to stop by a Maghnata Books. Also, at some benches around the world where you’ll find vending machines, you’ll also see a Maghnata Automat that services the same purpose.

As for how to get points for the Folios and unlock new skill nodes, those are tied to things like EXP. In the case of getting SP to earn new skills, you’ll need to fight and level up or acquire certain books through places like Moogle Houses. As for new nodes, increasing the Party Level by doing things like exploring and taking on side quests will unlock those.

But since you’re first starting out, you won’t have much open to you at the moment. Cloud, Aerith, Tifa, Barret, and Red XIII will each have 5 SP the first time you visit a Maghnata Books, but that is enough to unlock a first node for each of the characters in their Folios in FFVII Rebirth.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is available on the PS5, with the exclusivity arrangement ending on May 29, 2024.
