How to Get Every Salutor in The Thaumaturge

Salutors are the main way of obtaining new combat abilities in The Thaumaturge. Players starting their adventure might be curious to know how many playable Salutors in the Thaumaturge there are and how to obtain them all.

All Salutors Locations in The Thaumaturge

There are a total of 8 playable Salutors in The Thaumaturge. 5 of them are obtained through the main story, and one only 4 of them being mandatory. While the player can meet plenty of Salutors during the course of the game, some of these are already tamed by other thaumaturges and are not available for players.

The first two Salutors in The Thaumaturge are mandatory, and players will obtain them during the tutorial. However, after completing the testament reading during “The Mermaid City’s Son” Main Quest, the world opens up, and a few branching paths appear in front of you. Some of them can lead to meeting Salutors early on, but not all of them are obtainable from the moment you meet them.

Here are all 8 playable Salutors:

Upyr (Heart Dimension): Upyr is Wiktor’s starting Salutor and has been with him since his youth. However, due to events prior to the start of the game, they have lost their connection. You will recover your connection with Upyr in the opening hour of the game.

Bukavac (Deed Dimension): Shortly after reconnecting with Upyr, the tutorial will introduce the concept of Traces, Flaws, and hunting for new salutors. The quest where you obtain Bukavac is part of the main plot and will also happen within the tutorial.

Lelek (Mind Dimension): You can find Lelek by initiating the Main Quest “What We Leave Behind” in Northern Śrródmieście and completing it. The next Main Quest, “Bastards of the Night,” will automatically start. After a short dialogue with Wiktor’s childhood friend Abaurycy, you will meet Lelek and tag along with your old friend in a quest that results in Wiktor acquiring this bird-like Salutor.

Veles (Word Dimension): As part of the search for Stanislaw’s Black Grimoire, Wiktor and Ligia visit Svetlana’s soireé at the Imperial Hotel during “The Reptilian Bash” Main Quest. There, Wiktor will find Traces of the snake deity Veles. Simply proceeding with the quest will unlock this new Salutor for Wiktor. No matter your choices during the quest, you will get to keep Veles.

Morana (Mind Dimension): Morana is a special case. You can meet the goddess of death and new beginnings and progress on her quest even before you meet Lelek or Veles. However, you won’t be able to acquire her until the start of Act 2 since progression is gated. Additionally, you will want to have at least level 5 in the Word and Mind Dimensions, requiring Lelek and Veles on your roster.

In order to meet Morana, head to Powiśle and visit the shore of the river after completing “The Mermaid City’s Son.” Once there, a Side Quest named “The Art of Dying” will automatically start. This is a limited side quest, meaning that it will stop being available after progressing past a certain point in the story. However, you don’t have to worry about it too much, as the game is pretty lenient with this quest.

Completing “The Art of Dying” is easy, but Morana will still elude you after its conclusion. The “Horses in the sky” limited time Side Quest follows immediately after, and this is the quest that requires both a level 5 for Word and Mind Dimensions to complete. Even then, once finished, you will have to wait and progress in the story up to the beginning of Act 2 for the fight with Morana to be available.

Djinn (Heart Dimension): After starting Act 2 and examining the Szulski Family Shop with Ligia, head to the Gościnny Dwór bazaar, located southeast of the store in Mirów, and you will find the Djinn and start the “Fearless” timed Side Quest. Djinn is another special case, as he is one of two Salutors you can give away to other NPCs. Whether you leave the Salutor with their owner or take it for yourself is up to you, so consider the decision carefully.

Krampus (Word Dimension): Krampus is an interesting one. The quest to obtain this Salutor is really short, and he’s one of the strongest Salutors for a build when paired with fast-focus depletion. “The real fireworks” urban secrets need to be completed to start the “A rod for the hero” quest that leads to Krampus. This can be done in Port Praga after Act 2 starts. You can find either of the first firework clues to start an Observation that will lead you to a Warehouse where the Salutor first appears. It’s not too difficult to find the clues leading to the urban secrets if you walk around Port Praga and explore using your perception.

Golem (Deed Dimension): You meet Golem at the end of Act 1, but you won’t be able to acquire him until much later. In fact, trying to find this physical Salutor is an important part of the story during Act 2 and will involve the completion of the Main Quests “All Our Curses,” “A Great Uproar,” and “Clay Ambitions.”

Similar to Djinn, this Salutor can be given away to Jewish Thaumaturge Ariel Rofe. While doing so will make the Salutor’s combat abilities inaccessible to Wiktor, giving it away to Rofe would be an act of good faith to your fellow thaumaturge.

The Thaumaturge is now available for Windows PC. It will appear on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S sometime in 2024.
