Metaphor: ReFantazio may surprise some players in that there are multiple endings for players to unlock. It is similar to the previous Persona games in how you can get various bad endings depending on certain choices. Here’s how to get every ending in Metaphor: ReFantazio, including the true ending.

How to Unlock All Bad Endings

There are four total different endings you are able to get in this Atlus JRPG. This includes three “bad” endings and a true one. Spoiler warning for the entire game ahead. The bad endings aren’t super detailed since you aren’t supposed to get them. The three bad endings are the following:

• 1. Fantasy Is Dead
• 2. Fantasy Is Ruined
• 3. Fantasy Is Fiction

Fantasy Is Dead is the easiest to get. You can see this one just by dying in battle. In addition, it is possible to get on 9/24 when the player goes to find the Prince. Here, you simply need to reject your true identity. Fantasy Is Ruined happens at the end of the Skybound Avatar dungeon. This is where you essentially give up and join with Louis as he suggests.

The final bad ending is Fantasy Is Fiction. You can get this one at the very, very end of the JRPG. More will take you to a certain surprising location. He will give you the chance to reject the world and claim it as all fiction.

How to Get the True Ending in Metaphor: ReFantazio

More than likely, your goal will be to get the true ending in Metaphor: ReFantazio since it is the only one that truly matters. To do this, you essentially need to beat the main story, all bosses, and avoid the three endings above. This means accepting and realizing your true identity on 9/24. This also means rejecting Louis’ offer and fighting against him.

Lastly, you need to fight back against More and his final offer at the end of the story. It is here you need to believe in the fantasy world where the game takes place. Beat all of the bosses at the end of the game and you will get the true ending. This is also the only one that features the actual credits, so you’ll know if you got it with that.
