The Miner in Final Fantasy XIV is such an incredibly important gathering class, since it allows you to gather materials like Darksteel Ore. Unfortunately, the game does not always make it clear where to find ore like this. Below, you’ll find the best location of how to mine for Darksteel Ore in FFXIV.
Where do I mine for Darksteel Ore in FFXIV?
To get Darksteel Ore, you first need to have a level 50 or higher Miner. You’ll also want to have Truth of the Mountains on or else you won’t be able to see this mining point appear. You can only find Darksteel Ore in a single spot in the game, which is the following:
- Camp Dragonhead (Coerthas Central Highlands): Around X: 27.2, Y: 19.5
There is a catch, though. You aren’t able to mine this ore anytime you want there. Instead, you need to head here when it is between 1 a.m.-4 a.m. Eorzean time. This can differ from your current time so be sure to keep an eye on what the current server time is in the top right corner of the screen.
How else can I get Darksteel Ore? Try the Market Board
Now, it is understandable that mining Darksteel Ore is a frustrating experience in FFXIV due to the time schedule situation. Fortunately, there is a much easier way to get this ore if you are in a time crunch. You can simply buy Darksteel Ore off of the local Market Board and be good to go.
I am currently able to buy as much as I need for less than 50,000 Gil for a stack of 99. I imagine it is a similar situation on most worlds. But with the free travel system now, it is possible to head to the cheapest world and buy off of their Market Board if you really want to save Gil.
Final Fantasy XIV is available right now for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
